[Domains](https://help.blakemarkdigital.co.uk/domains) # Transferring a .uk domain name to us Moving your .uk domain to Blake Mark Digital is straightforward. Unlike many domain extensions, .uk domains do not require an authorisation (EPP) code and there is no charge to transfer the domain to us. You'll only pay when your domain is next due for renewal. ### Step 1: Place a Transfer Order Before your current registrar changes the IPS TAG, you'll need to create a transfer order through your Client Area. 1. Log in to your **Client Area**. 2. Navigate to **Store \> Transfer Domains to Us**. 3. Enter the .uk domain name you'd like to transfer. 4. Click **Add to Cart**. 5. Complete the checkout process. If you're a new customer, you'll also be asked to provide the correct registrant details during checkout. **Please note:** .uk domains do **not** require an authorisation (EPP) code. ### Step 2: Ask your current registrar to change the IPS TAG Once you've placed your order, contact your current registrar and ask them to update the IPS TAG to: **BLAKEMARKPR** Once the IPS TAG has been changed, the domain will automatically transfer into your Blake Mark Digital account. ### Why do I need to place an order first? Although transferring a .uk domain is free, creating an order allows our systems to identify which customer account the domain should be assigned to. If the IPS TAG is changed before an order is placed, the domain may arrive without being linked to your account, meaning we'll need to assign it manually before you can manage it through your [Client Area](https://hosting.blakemarkproductions.com/clientarea.php). ### My registrar wants to charge me to change the IPS TAG Some registrars charge an administration fee to change the IPS TAG when transferring a .uk domain. If you'd prefer not to pay this fee, you can request the change directly through [Nominet](https://www.nominet.uk/), the official registry for .uk domain names. Nominet currently charges **£10 + VAT** to change the registrar of a .uk domain and usually processes the request promptly. To do this, you'll need to create a Nominet Online Services account using the email address listed as the registrant for your domain. ### What information should I give my current registrar? Some registrars may ask for your new nameserver details before completing the transfer. If you're also moving your hosting to Blake Mark Digital, you'll find our nameservers in our [Nameserver Information Guide](https://help.blakemarkdigital.co.uk/what-are-our-namesevers). If you're **not** changing your hosting or email provider, you can simply keep your existing nameservers and there should be no interruption to your website or email services. ### Once the transfer has completed After the IPS TAG has been updated, your domain will appear in your Blake Mark Digital Client Area where you'll be able to manage renewals, DNS and other domain settings. If you're also transferring your website or email hosting to us, simply update the nameservers (if they haven't already been changed) and your services will begin using your Blake Mark Digital hosting automatically. ### Need Help?
