# Understanding hosting resource limits: storage, CPU, memory and processes

Our Core, Plus and Pro hosting plans each provide one cPanel account. This article explains the limits included with each plan, how resources are shared, and what happens when an account reaches its allocation.

 Plan limits at a glance

| Resource | Core | Plus | Pro |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Websites | 1 | 3 | 5 |
| cPanel accounts | 1 | 1 | 1 |
| Premium NVMe storage | 2GB | 5GB | 10GB |
| Monthly bandwidth | Unlimited | Unlimited | Unlimited |
| Email accounts | 5 | 10 | 20 |
| MySQL/MariaDB databases | 5 | 15 | 25 |
| Subdomains | 5 | 15 | 25 |
| FTP accounts | 2 | 5 | 10 |
| Addon domains | 0 | 2 | 4 |
| Parked domains/domain aliases | 1 | 3 | 5 |
| CPU | 1 core | 1 core | 1 core |
| Memory | 2GB | 2GB | 2GB |
| Entry processes | 25 | 25 | 25 |
| Backups | Daily, off-site | Daily, off-site | Daily, off-site |
| Backup restore points | Up to 31 | Up to 31 | Up to 31 |

### How resources are shared

Each plan is supplied as one cPanel account. If a plan allows more than one website, every website within that account shares the same storage, CPU, memory and entry-process allocation.

The account's storage allowance is shared by:

- Website files
- Databases
- Email messages and attachments
- Logs, cache and temporary files
- Staging or development copies
- Any backup files stored inside the hosting account

For example, the Pro plan provides 10GB in total. It does not provide 10GB for each website or each mailbox.

### How the website limit works

The primary domain counts as the first website. Additional websites are added as addon domains:

- Core supports the primary website only.
- Plus supports the primary website and up to two addon websites.
- Pro supports the primary website and up to four addon websites.

A domain alias points another domain to an existing website and does not create a separate website. Subdomains can be used for sections of a website, but a separate website, staging copy or application hosted on a subdomain still consumes account resources and may count towards the plan's website allowance.

#### Email accounts and mailbox storage

The email account limit controls how many mailboxes can be created. Individual mailboxes do not have a separate fixed storage allocation at package level. They use the hosting account's shared disk allowance.

This means a single mailbox can use a large portion of the available storage if it is not managed. If the overall account becomes full, websites may be unable to write files or update databases, and email delivery may be interrupted.

Customers should regularly review **Disk Usage** and **Email Disk Usage** in cPanel and remove or archive messages that are no longer required.

#### CPU, memory and entry processes

Every cPanel account receives up to one CPU core, 2GB of memory and 25 entry processes. These resources apply to the account as a whole and are shared by all websites, PHP requests, scheduled tasks and other activity inside it.

An entry process is a request entering the account, such as a visitor loading a PHP page. It is not the same as the number of people who can visit a website. Most requests complete very quickly, but slow scripts, heavy plugins, automated traffic or a sudden surge in visitors can cause the limit to be reached.

If an account repeatedly reaches its CPU, memory or entry-process limits, websites may slow down or temporarily return a resource-limit error. Optimising the affected website, reducing unnecessary background work or moving busy websites into separate hosting accounts can help.

#### Unlimited bandwidth

There is no fixed monthly data-transfer allowance on Core, Plus or Pro. Unlimited bandwidth does not provide unlimited processing power or storage, and the account remains subject to its CPU, memory, entry-process and disk-space limits.

Large file distribution, video streaming or other unusually resource-intensive activity may require a different hosting solution.

#### Backups and restore points

All three plans include [daily off-site backups](https://help.blakemarkdigital.co.uk/what-backups-are-included-with-my-hosting-plan) with up to 31 restore points. Off-site system backups are stored separately from the hosting server and do not use the account's storage allowance.

Backup files created manually and left inside cPanel do use the account's storage. Download these files to a secure external location and remove the server copy when it is no longer needed.

Although regular backups are provided, they may not capture changes made between backup runs. We recommend taking an additional backup before making significant website, database or email changes.

#### What happens when a limit is reached?

cPanel prevents the account from exceeding fixed limits such as disk space, mailboxes, databases, domains and FTP accounts. Depending on the resource involved, you may need to remove unused data, optimise a website or upgrade the hosting plan before more resources can be added.

If you are unsure which resource has been reached, [contact Support](https://help.blakemarkdigital.co.uk/how-to-contact-support-and-what-details-to-provide) and include the affected domain name, the approximate time the problem occurred and any error message shown.

### Need more resources?

If your websites regularly approach the limits of the current plan, we can help you review their usage and choose the most suitable next step. This may be a plan upgrade
